How People Find Work

Study this graphic of how people find work, re-actively and pro-actively.  Use it as a reminder to you that the ‘proactive’ approach is much more likely to help you find new work than the reactive approach.  The point is to use both methods, just not spend the majority of your time with the less effective reactive method.  Unfortunately, because it’s very easy to be reactive, most people looking for work will spend 80% or more of their time in the reactive mode–often making the period of work search even longer!  So don’t fall into this habit.
